An Enlightenment to All Nigerians – Especially Those Entrusted with Power

Politics, in its pure and original meaning, is one of the most sacred human callings. It is the conscious organization of human affairs for the preservation of life, the promotion of justice, and the fulfillment of collective destiny. When politics is rightly understood, it becomes a moral trust; when it is misunderstood, it degenerates into a tool of destruction.
Across history, politics has often been misinterpreted, misused, and misguided – not because it is inherently evil, but because the human ego, when unrestrained by wisdom and conscience, seeks power without responsibility. From this distortion, politics has been wrongly associated with deceit, violence, corruption, and division. This is not the nature of politics; it is the failure of those who practice it without moral and spiritual grounding.
What Politics Is Not
Politics must first be cleansed of false meanings imposed upon it.
Politics is not a transaction
Politics is not a marketplace where power is exchanged for loyalty, votes are bought with favors, and public trust is traded for private gain. When politics becomes transactional, the common good is reduced to a commodity, and governance degenerates into legalized selfishness. True politics is a sacred trust, not a bargain table.
Politics is never a game
Politics is not a game of winners and losers, strategies and counter-strategies, or ego-driven competition. A game tolerates casualties; politics must never do so. When politics is treated as a game, lives become expendable, truth becomes flexible, and the future of a people is gambled away. Politics is the stewardship of Destiny, not play – not at all!
Politics is not a tool for manipulation.
Manipulation thrives on ignorance and fear. True politics is rooted in enlightenment, consent, and service.
Politics is not an instrument to perpetuate evil or vices.
When politics becomes a shelter for injustice, it ceases to be politics and becomes organized immorality.
Politics is not an avenue for inordinate control.
Power is not ownership of people; it is stewardship over a trust. Control without conscience produces tyranny, not order.
The Sacredness of Politics
It is often said – across cultures and civilizations – that after GOD comes government. This is not a theological exaggeration; it is a recognition of responsibility. Government shapes law, order, justice, and the conditions under which human potential either flourishes or withers.
If government is that consequential, then politics – the process by which leadership is chosen and authority exercised – cannot be ordinary or profane. Politics is Sacred because it Mediates between Divine Moral Order and Human Social Life. It determines whether a society reflects justice or chaos, compassion or cruelty, progress or decay.
History bears solemn witness: civilizations did not collapse first through economic failure or military defeat; they collapsed when politics lost its Moral Compass. When power was severed from Wisdom, when Leadership abandoned Virtue, decay became inevitable.
Lessons We Must Learn as Nigerians
Nigeria’s challenges are complex, but one truth stands clear: the driving force behind many of our present crises is politics – and the character, consciousness, and competence of those who practice it, with due respect to the few honorable exceptions.
Our politics has become perilous, because it is driven by desperation rather than vision.
Our politics divides us, because it exploits ethnicity, religion, and fear instead of building a shared national purpose.
Our politics breeds evil, because it often rewards cunning over character.
Our politics retards development, because short-term gain replaces long-term planning.
Our politics nudges us toward a failed state, because institutions are weakened when personal interest overrides national destiny.
These are not merely administrative failures; they are Moral and Intellectual failures.
What We Must Do as a Matter of Urgency
Nigeria does not need more power struggles; Nigeria needs a higher quality of power.
We must bring Transcendent Wisdom to power.
Wisdom sees beyond elections into generations. It governs not by impulse, but by insight. Without wisdom, intelligence becomes dangerous.
We must bring Eternal Principles into politics.
Justice, truth, accountability, compassion, and service are not religious slogans; they are the laws that sustain societies. Politics divorced from principles becomes predatory.
We must enthrone Superior Knowledge for national development.
Leadership in a modern nation demands deep understanding – of economics, culture, history, psychology, and global realities. Ignorance in power is more destructive than opposition.
We Must embark on a Total Rebirth of Ourselves and our Nation.
National transformation begins with inner transformation. A new Nigeria cannot be built by an old consciousness. Politics must be purified by character; leadership must be refined by purpose.
A Final Call
Politics is not dirty by nature; it is human beings who dirty it when they enter power without Wisdom, Humility, and Fear of Consequence. To Redeem Nigeria, we must Redeem our Understanding of politics itself.
Let politics once again become what it was meant to be:
a Sacred Trust,
a Moral Duty,
a Noble Service,
and a Divine Responsibility to generations yet unborn.
Only then can Nigeria Rise – not merely as a Functioning State, but as a Purposeful Nation Aligned with Justice, Unity, and Destiny.
